Chickenpox Do's & Don'ts

Do treat the itch.

Chickenpox is known for its irritating itchy spots that are extremely uncomfortable. The temptation to scratch the spots and relieve the itching can be overwhelming, however this can cause scarring and even infection. Using calamine lotion and taking soothing baths is the best treatment to relieve the itching and avoid scratching.

Stay Home.

Don’t send your children to school while they’re still infectious, which is when the final spot has crusted over. Chickenpox is very contagious and it’s important to protect others from exposure.
